Aquella Casa

Film still from Aquella Casa directed by Nil Vives
Archive short film in development.
A voice weaves through haunting archive footage, drawing us into the recurring dreams of the narrator. We journey through the mist of their childhood memories, wandering the familiar spaces of a family home now lost to time, replaced by towering modern apartments. The past and present merge, creating a poignant tapestry of dreams and echoes.
Born from the discovery of a family’s Super8 archive, filmed during the 1970s at their home in Viladecans, this film evokes a space and a way of life that have since vanished—the former demolished by the arrival of apartment blocks, and the latter lost to the passage of time and the advent of new technologies.
“When sleeping, his childhood home rises up from nothing, and he wanders through the memories like a trapped shadow.”

Crowdfunding campaign begins
The project is currently in the editing phase, with the fictionalised voice-over being written. Until now, we’ve been working with low-resolution digitised copies, so we’ve reached a stage where it’s essential to digitise the selected reels in high resolution. For this reason, on May 27th, 2025, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign through Goteo.org to cover these costs.
What will the funds be used for?
Your contribution will help cover the costs of high-quality digitisation of Super8 film reels, creating a cinema-grade projection copy, and subtitling. A portion of the budget will also be allocated to festival distribution, marketing, and publicity. Finally, part of the funds will go toward educational and outreach efforts in collaboration with schools and cultural spaces.
How can I donate?
Donations are collected via the project page Aquella Casa on Goteo.org. Each donation qualifies for a Spanish tax deduction of between 35% and 80%. For example, the actual cost of a €100 donation could be just €20.* There are no minimum or maximum amounts, and you’ll receive an official certificate immediately for tax purposes.

The team and vision behind the project
Aquella Casa, directed by Nil Vives and produced by Rose Kowalski and Marina G. Andreu, received the El Modern Grant from Girona City Council in 2024, and has been supported by the Girona Provincial Council. Josep Maria Sunyer is responsible for managing the family’s archive material and collaborates as an associate producer on the project. María Romero leads the graphic design.
This project aims to go beyond nostalgia, exploring how the disappearance of a physical place shapes our collective identity. The local story becomes a reflection of a universal phenomenon: the loss of childhood spaces, the transformation of urban life, and the need to preserve memory through audiovisual storytelling.
Your support will help bring this project to life and ensure these images can be seen again.
Thank you for reading and for sharing in the excitement of this journey.
