Principal photography has begun on the fiction short film Res a fer (No Option), directed by Mel Estaba and produced by Horizontal Films.
Filmed entirely on location in Girona and the Costa Brava, the production embraces the region’s distinctive landscapes, from an authentic roadside motel and bar to the vast open skies and fields of the Empordà, creating the atmospheric backdrop for this intimate and emotionally charged drama.
The film brings together an outstanding cast led by Ana Verónica Schultz as Gabriela, alongside newcomer Mercedes León as Yolanda, David Bagés as Vicenç and Judit Martín as the Landlady. And not forgetting Iker Haro and José Barón in key supporting roles.
Behind the camera, Res a fer is supported by a talented creative team, with Claudia Pujol as Director of Photography, Cèlia Carbó as Sound Recordist, Pau Montilla leading Production Design, Sandra Ramírez in Make-up and Bárbara Herrera in Costume Design. Production is headed by Ester Guerrero, supported by Isa Vilà (Production Coordinator), Maria Romero (Assistant Production), Aleix Fibla (Production Assistant), and Nil Vives (Script Supervisor). The camera and lighting departments include Frank Patmo (Focus Puller), Martí Mola (Gaffer), Mateo Martínez (Electrician) and Víctor Rodríguez (DIT), while Blai Carriet joins the art department as Art Assistant.
Res a fer marks the beginning of the collaboration between producer Rose Kowalski and director Mel Estaba, and serves as the proof of concept for the feature film Bravo Sanmartín, currently in development. The short film has received production support from the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC).
