Highly Inflammable, the debut feature from writer-director Cheryl White, entered production last month with filming taking place on location in Hastings, East Sussex. Acclaimed actress Patsy Kensit and rising punk trio HotWax led the cast during an energetic shoot, produced by Lost for Words, Horizontal Films, and Tree Top Films.
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign and an intense period of pre-production, the production completed two long days of principal photography, capturing the raw energy and DIY spirit at the heart of the film.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of Hastings’ independent music scene, Highly Inflammable channels the rebellious spirit of punk through an energetic cast, a passionate creative team, and an unmistakable DIY ethos.
The project now moves into post-production, where editing, colour grading, sound design and music will shape the film ahead of its festival journey. While there is still work to be done before audiences can experience the finished feature, the first images from the shoot promise a bold, visually striking debut.
The production would not have been possible without the extraordinary support of the film’s Kickstarter backers, whose enthusiasm helped the campaign reach its funding target. As a token of thanks, rewards are now beginning to reach supporters, with more updates to follow in the coming weeks.
